ABOUT THE BOOK:
When Big-city life threatens the safety of one of their children, Brad and Darlene Henderson move with their three teenagers from Houston to the tiny town of Round Top, Texas.
Adjusting to small-town life is difficult for the kids, especially fifteen-year-old Grace who is coping in a dangerous way.
Married life hasn’t always been bliss, but their strong faith has carried them through the difficult times. When Darlene takes a job outside the home for the first time in their marriage, the domestic tension rises.
While working with special needs children as her new job, the widowed father of one of Darlene’s students starts paying more attention to her than is appropriate. Problem is, she feels like someone is listening to her for the first time in a long time. If Darlene ever needed God, it’s now.

Just a few days after receiving an Advance Readers Copy of Need You Now, I got sick. While down for the week-end with the world’s worst cold, I can tell you that I was glad to have Need You Now sitting on my bedside table.
There were times when I wanted to yell at Darlene and her husband Brad, but much of the time I was sympathetic with one or the other. Beth Wiseman’s characters always are heart-warming and compelling, and Need You Now characters did not disappoint. Even when the blame-placing got out of hand, I didn’t give up on Darlene and Brad. I hoped their faith would be strong enough to keep them safe.
I have one negative comment to make. We are seeing more and more accepted comments about wine-drinking by professing Christians in Christian novels. For many of us, however, alcohol is totally unacceptable. I love Beth Wiseman’s writing, and appreciate her story of a family that overcomes so much. The Bible says, “Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whosoever is led astray by them is not wise.” (Proverbs 20:1 NIV) I can’t fully recommend a book that treats drinking as acceptable. Wiseman’s writing still shines, and her characters are well rounded. Enough said.
